German born Jakob Dreyer started playing piano when he was 4 years
old. He received classical training as a piano player until he switched to
bass at age 13. Among his teachers were John Patitucci, Mike Richmond
and Anders Jormin. He holds a bachelor’s degree in music performance
from the University of Music an Drama Hamburg as well as a master’s
degree in music performance from the City College of New York. He
has played alongside Grammy-winning artists like Steve Wilson and
Rogerio Boccato, and has performed at important venues all over the
world including Carnegie Hall in New York, Kennedy Center in
