Bulgarian pianist, Georgi Nedelinov Lekov, was born in Montana, Bulgaria, on November 2, 1995. He started his musical education at the age of 4. He graduated at Music High School in Sofia, Bulgaria, in the piano classes of Åmiliya Kaneva. He has also collaborated with prof. Ludmil Angelov at New Bulgarian University.

Currently, he is pursuing a Bachelor of Music at the Mannes College The New School for Music, in the piano class of prof. Pavlina Dokovska and prof. Vladimir Valjarevic. Mr. Lekov has won an impressive number of prizes in competitions in his native Bulgaria and Cyprus. Awards and distinctions include Grand prix at Sixth Piano Competition „Liszt-Bartok” (2011), First Prizes at Ninth International Competition “German-Austrian Music” (2011), Fifth International Competition “Young Virtuosos” (including a Special Prize 2009), Third International Piano Competition “Schumann-Brahms” in (including a Special Prize for artistic talent, 2008), Fifth International Piano Competition “Contemporary and Classics” (2006); Fifteenth International Piano Competition “Evangelia Tijarri” in Larnaca, Cyprus (First Prize not awarded, 2010), Seventh International Piano Competition “Franz Schubert” (Special Prize for best performance of Schubert’s work, 2009); Third Prize at Third International Piano Competition “Chopin in memoriam” (2010). Georgi Lekov participated in Master Classes given by Pavlina Dokovska, Ludmil Angelov, Milena Mollova, Boyan Vodenicharov, Alexander Raychev Jr., Harold Osberger, Marco Tezza, Elena Ashkenazi, Tamara Poddubnaya, James Giles, Douglas Humpherys, Jerome Lowenthal, Gabriel Kwok, Jack Winerock, Ling Yuan, Vladimir Valjarevic, Kathleen Winkler, Ivry Gitlis, Jan Talich, Petr Prause, Hagit and Leonid Kerbel, Jan Vanderwegen, Itamar Golan, Iren Kogan, Andrei Banciu, Vladimir Perlin, Steven Isserlis. Lekov has performed as a soloist and chamber in USA, China, Cyprus, Belgium, Turkey and his native Bulgaria. He has played with outstanding orchestras such as Classic FM Orchestra, New Symphony Orchestra, Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, Vratsa Philarmonic, Vidin Philarmonic, Shumen Philarmonic. He has worked with conductors such as Cornelius Frovein, Deyan Pavlov, Stanislav Ushev, Rossen Gergov, Grigor Palikarov and Dimitar Panov.

Mr. Georgi Lekov has joined the faculty of the Piano School of NYC in 2015.
