Italian/Swiss pianist Chantal Balestri is a versatile classical musician active in the European & American music scenes. She is a performer, involved in education, promotion, and organization of musical events. Highlights of her recent career include a solo CD recording with Sheva Collection, her recital debut in Lincoln Center (New York) and her debut as a soloist with orchestra in New York City.

She has performed as a solo and chamber musician, in contemporary music ensembles, as collaborator with singers in opera productions and lieder concerts. She has concertized through Europe and North America at venues including the DiMenna Center (New York), Sala Piatti (Bergamo), Sala Stradivari (Cremona), Wiener Saal (Salzburg, Austria), Kaisersaal der Historisches Kaufhaus (Freiburg, Germany), and Auditorium La Loja (Orihuela, Spain). Chantal worked as a repetiteur at the Theater Del Giglio in Lucca, Italy and specialized in Lied interpretation at the University of Music in Freiburg, Germany.

Since the age of seven, Chantal has won numerous national and international competitions and scholarships, including the Osimo International Piano Competition and, most recently, won the NYU Piano Concerto Competition. Her repertoire includes a wide range of styles, from Baroque to Contemporary. She has presented premieres of solo and chamber music works including Massimo Giuntoli’s “Piano Store” (2014), a piece for six pianos commissioned by Yamaha Piano Europe. In 2008, Chantal had the opportunity to perform the pieces of the Russian composer Rodion Schedrin in a concert in which he was present, receiving praise for her performance from the composer himself.

Chantal earned a Bachelor degree with honors when she was only 18 in Lucca. She earned a Master of Music with honors there at the age of 21, after attending an exchange program at the Music University of Freiburg. She studied chamber music at La Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, Italy and piano solo with Fabio Bidini and Konstantin Bogino in Italian music academies. She has been invited to perform for Paul Badura-Skoda, Benedetto Lupo, Pascal Devoyon, Florian Boffard, Jura Margulis, Bruno Canino, Vincenzo Balzani, Andrei Gavrilov, Piero Rattalino, Oleg Marshev and Antonio Pompa-Baldi, in Music Festivals like MusicAlp Festival (Courchevel, France), International Piano Accademy (Freiburg, Germany), Ferrara Piano Festival, Euro Music Festival (Halle, Germany), Summer Academy of Mozarteum (Salzburg, Austria).

In May 2017, Chantal obtained a MM with honors at NYU, where she also been appointed as an Adjunct Faculty Member in Piano Studies, while being a Piano Professor at La Scuola D’Italia and the Willan Academy in New York.
