Mr. Roig graduated with Master of Music in Piano Performance in 1991 from Feliks Nowowiejeski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, Poland. Parallel to his artistic career he began to teach piano at 19 years of age at the Conservatory Alejandro G. Caturla in Havana, Cuba. Studied with Raul Estevanell (pupil of Claudio Arrau) Ignacio Pacheco, Inna Stepanova, Silvio Rodriguez Cardenas, Jerzy Sulikowski and Katarzyna Popowa-Zydron. Three times scholarship winner to the National School of Music in Havana, Polish Ministry of Culture as a contestant to the XII International Chopin Piano Competition held in Warsaw in 1990 and Manhattan School of Music in 1994. Piano instructor at the Frédéric Chopin Conservatory of Music in Warsaw, Poland and Private Teacher to the French American community in Larchmont, New York. During his years in Poland he was acclaimed for his exceptional way of interpreting the romantic composers and specially the music of Frederic Chopin. Performed concerts throughout Poland and Germany, most importantly at the Chopin’s Birth Place in Zelazowa Wola, under Chopin’s Monument in Wlazieki Park, The Ostrogski Palace and The Grand Theater in Warsaw. Once in New York City he debuted at Carnegie Hall in 1993 where he played Albeniz, Schumann and Chopin. He was invited by American/Cuban pianist Liliana Fleites who assigned Mr. Roig Chopin Master Classes at the Steinvorth Hall in Venezuela to commemorate the 200 anniversary of Frederic Chopin’s birth. Alejandro closed the event playing Concerto with Orchestra in f minor.
