Albert Ahlf is an experienced Pianist who began his professional studies and works at the piano as a teenager. His background is diverse from a pedagogical standpoint, including ear training, sight reading, classical, and jazz. He has extensive classical training but progressed into the world of Jazz music and its array of categories as his specialty. As he went through high school, He started playing professional gigs including playing with a Jazz ensemble and playing music for church services as a pianist/ organist and choir assistant. He then went onward to study music performance as an undergraduate at the SUNY Purchase Conservatory of music. Albert then went on to get his Masters in Music Education at Hunter College. He has been teaching private piano lessons as well for the past 6 years and has been working as a freelance pianist for the past 8 years. Albert also has classroom teaching experience at the elementary and high school levels. He is familiar with Dalcroze, Orff, and a variety of piano/music methods, and is also familiar with NYSSMA preparation, as well as choral and band work.
